AIFF-FIFA Academy to be launched in November

Arsene Wenger, head of Global Football Development for FIFA and former Arsenal manager is all set to inaugurate India’s first AIFF-FIFA Academy in Bhubaneswar of November 21. With this, a long-awaited dream of the All India Football Federation for a world-class academy is finally assuming form.

Sergi Amezcua Fontrodona, a FIFA-trained coach has been recommended by FIFA to become the head coach of the academy.

The AIFF-FIFA Academy is a result of the world body’s Talent Development Scheme (TDS) programme, launched to increase the competitiveness of football in several member nations through on-ground support to the member associations.

Arsene Wenger is scheduled to be in India from the 19th to the 23rd of this month. He also is scheduled to meet with the Indian Super League (ISL) and I-League clubs who have taken youth development initiatives.
