AFC Asian Cup 2023 groups

The draw for the AFC Asian Cup 2023 has placed India in a tough group, along with Australia, Uzbekistan and Syria. The Blue Tigers will be making their fifth appearance in the quadrennial tournament and for the first time, for a second consecutive time.

The draw for the AFC Asian Cup 2023 was conducted on May 11. India will be making its fifth appearance in the tournament, after 1964, 1984, 2011 and 2019.

Though named AFC Asian Cup 2023, the 18th edition of the tournament will be held in 2024, from January 12 to February 10 in Qatar.

India has been drawn into a tough group, unlike the last time, along with Australia, Uzbekistan and Syria, and it’s anybody’s guess whether they will progress to the second round.

Group A:
Qatar, China, Tajikistan, Lebanon

Group B:
Australia, Uzbekistan, Syria, India

Group C:
Iran, UAE, Hong Kong, Palestine

Group D:
Japan, Indonesia, Iraq, Vietnam

Group E:
South Korea, Malaysia, Jordan, Bahrain

Group F:
Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Kyrgyz Republic, Oman
