Travellers to north Bengal will now be able to see nature in all its glory from the air-conditioned comfort of the glass-enclosed Vistadome coaches. A large part of the roofs are also glass-covered, with anti-glare screens for better skyview.

The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has introduced a Vistadome coach each in two trains—the New Jalpaiguri-Howrah Shatabdi Express and the Radhikapur-Howrah Kulik Express.

While in the former, the Vistadome coach would be attached for about two months, in the latter, it would be a permanent feature.

For a Vistadome experience on the New Jalpaiguri-Howrah Shatabdi Express, one would need to book a ticket between July 3 and August 31. For Kulik Express, on the Radhikapur-bound train (Radhikapur is in North Dinajpur district), the coach would be introduced on July 3 and on the Howrah-bound train on July 4.

There are 44 360-degree-rotatable pushback seats in each Vistadome coach.

The fares would be higher than those for the AC chair car seats in the respective trains—Rs 2,500 on the Shatabdi and Rs 1,710 on the Kulik.
