On Tuesday, March 5, Swiggy, unveiled its collaboration with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corp (IRCTC) to offer pre-ordered meals to travellers at four key railway stations in India, mirroring Zomato’s initiative in this domain.

As per the terms outlined in the memorandum of understanding, Swiggy will commence food deliveries from its extensive restaurant network to passengers on designated trains, starting with stations in Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada.

The service is poised for expansion to include an additional 59 stations nationwide in the near future.

With the Indian Railways catering to over 8 billion passengers annually, a similar partnership had been announced last October with Zomato, initially focusing on stations in New Delhi, Prayagraj (fromerly Allahabad), Kanpur, Lucknow and Varanasi.

The delivery process for pre-ordered meals will be facilitated through IRCTC’s e-catering portal.
