New options for Insta Reels: Download videos, show lyrics
Instagram has introduced two new features in Reels for its users worldwide—download the videos and show the lyrics of songs used in the videos.
Soon, everyone will be able to download Reels videos on Instagram, a feature now available only in USA.
As of now, they are downloadable only using third-party apps; now you will be able to do it natively.
“You can now save reels created by public accounts to your camera roll – any reel you download will include a watermark with the creator’s Instagram handle. We rolled this out in the US earlier this year, and now it’s available globally,” Adam Mosseri, Instagram CEO wrote in a blog.
He went on to explain the process: “Just tap the Share icon on a reel and choose Download”.
The feature, though, can be turned off. As Mosseri wrote, “public accounts can turn off the ability for people to download their reels”; however, “if a reel you love isn’t eligible to be downloaded, you can still tap the three dots and Save it to watch it later in the app”.
The download feature is exclusive to mobile users only, on both Android and iOS platforms.
Instagram introduced another feature recently for Reels: Show song lyrics on the videos. This feature is already available for Stories.
To enable it, simply add a music clip to your Reel and then select the lyrics option. You can adjust the font, the colour and the position of the text, as well as highlight a specific part of the lyrics that matches your message or mood.
