WhatsApp has unveiled a sleek, updated appearance for its app, now available on both iOS and Android devices. It aims to deliver a more contemporary and user-friendly experience. But what exactly is new?

Among the standout changes is the refined dark mode, which features a deeper background to enhance text legibility. Conversely, the light mode has been revamped with added white space, contributing to a refreshed aesthetic and improved usability.

Moving away from the previous blue-green blend, the revamped WhatsApp now boasts a consistent green palette, offering users a seamless visual experience. Meta, WhatsApp’s parent company, highlighted that this new color scheme aligns with the WhatsApp green logo, ensuring consistent color usage throughout the app.

WhatsApp has also updated its app icons, opting for a more rounded design, and refreshed illustrations to complement the new icons. Additionally, new animations have been introduced, lending the app a more dynamic and engaging feel. The default chat background has received a redesign too, now featuring new doodles for added visual appeal.

On the Android version, WhatsApp introduces a revamped bottom navigation bar, making navigation easier with tabs positioned closer to the user’s thumb for faster access.

Meanwhile, the iOS version boasts a redesigned attachment layout for sharing pictures and videos. Instead of a full-screen menu, the app now offers an expandable tray, providing users with a clearer view of available features when sending media, polls, documents, and more.

Moreover, WhatsApp recently introduced chat filters, allowing users to locate important chats more efficiently. With options like All, Unread and Groups, users can easily find specific chats. With the navigation bar now at the bottom of the screen, the filters are conveniently located at the top of the inbox on both the iOS and Android apps.
