Two big joinings at Modi’s Barasat meeting on cards till now

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a public meeting on March 6 in Barasat in North 24 Parganas. While state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and Leader of Opposition in the Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari had claimed that a famous personality will join the party on the 7th, it now seems that Modi’s meeting is all set to witness two big inductions into the saffron fold–Abhijit Ganguly and Tapas Roy.

Calcutta High Court Judge Abhijit Ganguly had declared that he would submit his resignation to the chief justice of the court as well as to the President of India. He minced no words in asserting that he is eyeing a career in politics after being discharged from his duties.

It has become apparent that he is all set to join the BJP and speculations are also rife that he will contest the upcoming general election from Tamluk in East Medinipur district.

On Monday, disgruntled senior Trinamool leader and MLA Tapas Roy submitted his resignation both to the party and the legislature.

Sources say he will join the BJP and contest the Lok Sabha elections from either North Kolkata, challenging his arch-nemesis Sudip Bandyopadhyay, or Dum Dum, of which his Baranagar assembly constituency is a part.
