Temperatures to dip yet again in Bengal

February 7, 2024 | < 1 min read

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional office on Thursday stated that Kolkata will continue to experience a slight chill in the air until the week’s end.

A senior IMD official mentioned that both the highest and lowest temperatures are likely to decrease on Thursday, marking a shift from the weather conditions observed in the city since the previous week. The expected highest is around 25.1°C (down from 28°C last week), while the lowest is anticipated to drop to 16.7°C (from 21°C).

The drop in temperature is expected not only in Kolkata but in other parts of Bengal too. No rain is forecast in Kolkata until Sunday.

In Purulia and Sriniketan in Birbhum district, the minimum temperature is projected to reach 11°C, significantly lower than the 15°C to 17°C recorded earlier this week.

The IMD also predicted that Murshidabad, which experienced lowest temperatures of around 15°C to 17°C earlier this week, will see temperatures dropping to 9.5°C during nighttime on Thursday. In Baharampur, Bishnupur, Burdwan and Bankura, the lowest temperatures are expected to hover from 13°C to 14°C.
