Plaint lodged against BJP for pushing false stories on Sandeshkhali

May 9, 2024 | < 1 min read

The All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its leadership for committing a huge fraud upon society by pushing fake stories and narratives about Sandeshkhali.

The complaint highlighted the fact that Suvendu Adhikari and local BJP leaders like Gangadhar Koyal and Shanti Dolui were involved in the conspiracy to orchestrate fake rape complaints against Trinamool leaders Sheikh Shahjahan and Uttam Sardar.

Jaba Rani Singha of Sandeshkhali had launched a complaint with the police against the above-mentioned leaders alleging that she was raped. She has withdrawn the complaint now, saying that BJP leaders had coerced her into filing false complaints, and that the party paid her cash and promised to enroll her family’s name in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Scheme in return for signing on a blank piece of paper.

This comes after an explosive footage released by Trinamool Congress where BJP block president Gangadhar Koyal can be heard claiming that everything was orchestrated by Suvendu Adhikari and that the Bengal leader of opposition in the Assembly pumped in money to get the movement going.

Rekha Patra, who claimed to be a rape victim too, has been fielded by the BJP from Basirhat in the Lok Sabha elections. But in a video released yesterday, she can be heard claiming that BJP leaders took “fake victims” to meet President Draupadi Murmu.
