Teachers from Bengal among winners of national award for teachers
Four teachers from Bengal were among the 75 from across the country who were awarded the National Awards to Teachers 2023 by President Droupadi Murmu on Teachers’ Day, which falls on September 5.
The guidelines were revised in 2018, as per which the award is presented in three categories—to school teachers, teachers of higher education institutions (HEIs) and teachers of institutes under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) (belonging to ITIs and other skill development institutions).

HEI teachers:
Suman Chakraborty, Professor, IIT, Kharagpur
Sayam Sen Gupta, Professor, IISER, Mohanpur
MSDE teachers:
Ramesh Rakshit, Instructor, Government Industrial Training Institute, Durgapur
