Senior Trinamool Congress leader, the party’s chief whip in the assembly, president of it’s Dum Dum-Barrackpore organisational district and a former minister in Mamata Banerjee’s cabinet, Tapas Roy joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of the state President Dr Sukanta Majumdar and Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari.

Tapas Roy said in his address to the press that the Trinamool Congress has turned into the party of Sheikh Shahjahans and Uttam Sardars and therefore, there was no way he was going to continue working for such a corrupt organisation.

He asserted that he is now a member of Modi’s ‘parivar’ and will remain loyal to the party and perform any duty given to him with diligence.

Suvendu Adhikari told the media there is no space left for truthful and honest leaders like Tapas Roy in the Trinamool Congress.
