Students with 4-year UG can appear directly for NET: UGC
Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar, Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), announced on Sunday that students with four-year undergraduate degrees can now directly take the National Eligibility Test (NET) and pursue a PhD.
For pursuing a PhD, with or without a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), these students require a minimum aggregate of 75 per cent marks or an equivalent grade.
Currently, NET candidates need a master’s degree with at least 55 per cent marks. Kumar also mentioned that quota students are likely to receive a relaxation of 5 per cent marks or its equivalent grade.
