Steps to enhance ‘Ease of Doing Business’ in rural areas
The Bengal government is taking steps like online-based mechanisms for issuing trade licenses, sanctioning building plans and collecting khajna in panchayat areas to ensure investments in rural parts of the state.
To facilitate business and create more opportunities in rural areas of Bengal, the state government has taken a step to issue trade licenses, even in panchayat areas. The government has also emphasised creating an online-based mechanism for issuing trade licenses and sanctioning building plans in panchayat areas.
The steps have been taken to ensure smooth and fast approval of business requirements, and thus score high on the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) norms.
Directions have already been given for introducing an online-based facility for the collection of khajna across the state to prevent people from standing in queue for a long time.
The departments of Land and Land Reforms, Transport and Consumer Affairs, and the Directorate of Registration and Stamp Revenue have started working towards the fast implementation of these steps.
These initiatives will take e-governance to the grassroots, say experts.
