Two days after creating history by becoming the first Indian woman to win a shooting medal at the Olympic Games, Manu Bhaker did so again today, and this is a bigger one—by winning the bronze in the 10m air pistol mixed team event, she became the first athlete in independent India to win two medals in the same Olympics.

Her teammate was Sarabjot Singh.

The last time someone won two medals for India in the same Olympic Games in an individual sport was Norman Pritchard, who won two silvers in athletics in the 1900 Olympic Games. And there is some connection here—the 1900 Olympics too was held in Paris.

The Indian pair defeated South Korean 16-10 to earn the country its second medal at the quadrennial showpiece.
