Responding to the grievances received from citizens on criminal intimidation and violence during the filing of nominations for the panchayat elections in Bengal, Governor CV Ananda Bose has opened a control room with a 24×7 helpline called ‘Peace Room’ to register complaints of election-related violence, at Raj Bhawan, his official residence.

The governor has visited Bhangar and Canning, both in South 24 Parganas, in response to the widespread violence in those areas in recent days.

The helpline is 033-22001641. There is also an e-mail address for registering complaints: [email protected].

“The Peace Room will refer the issues to the Government and State Election Commissioner for appropriate action,” an official statement said.
