While the Opposition parties put up a grand show of alliance, the National Democratic Alliance too did not allow itself to be left behind. To mark nine years of the present NDA, as well as 25 years of its formation in 1998, a meeting of 38 parties is taking place today in New Delhi, with Narendra Modi leading the BJP.

Of course, the main purpose is firming up for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

“The 2024 elections are near and all parties have different issues and agendas, so we will be discussing that along with the evolving political issues in the country,” said Syed Zafar Islam, BJP’s national spokesperson.

On the other hand, referring to the BJP’s propensity to use Central agencies to intimidate those opposed to its government, CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat said that the main allies of the NDA are ED, CBI and IT, and so they should have been present at the meeting too.
