Rahul Gandhi has been designated as the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. This decision was reached following a meeting of INDIA bloc leaders at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence on Tuesday, June 25.

Rahul Gandhi, a five-term MP, currently represents the Rae Bareli constituency. He was sworn in as an MP on Tuesday, holding a copy of the Constitution.

Having won two Lok Sabha seats–Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh and Wayanad in Kerala–Rahul Gandhi vacated the Wayanad seat in accordance with protocol. The Congress party has selected Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as its candidate for Wayanad, marking her entry into electoral politics.

Party leaders had strongly advocated for Rahul Gandhi to assume the position of Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.
