Narendra Modi gets France’s highest honour
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was honoured with France’s highest civilian and military award, the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour today, becoming the first Indian prime minister to be awarded so.
The decoration, consisting of a cross on a large red sash and a silver star with an eagle, a symbol of the Napoleonic Empire, was presented by French President Emmanuel Macron.
Later today, he was present at the annual Bastille Day celebrations (equivalent to our Republic Day) as the guest of honour.
