Modi, despite being the PM of India, has repeatedly insulted the country abroad

The most important issue today, if the BJP is to be believed, is Rahul Gandhi’s insulting India’s vibrant democracy through his speeches in London. An issue supposedly so important that the ruling party did not allow Parliament to function all through last week, demanding that Gandhi be punished. Of course, this is a convenient way to divert people’s attention from the burning issues, including discussing anything about the Adani issue, as many are putting it.

However, is it Rahul Gandhi insulting India’s democracy, or Prime Minister Modi? Narendra Modi, despite being the prime minister of the country, has repeatedly insulted his motherland in speeches given abroad.

He went to China and said that leaders of a particular party have repeatedly said that “I have committed a sin in the previous life by being born in India … What a bad country, what a bad government, let’s leave somewhere else.” He said the same thing in South Korea as well.

Then, sample this: “Previous governments used to have fun making laws, I have fun finishing off laws.” He said this in a hugely-attended public meeting in USA. In Canada, he said, “Everyone has made India dirty.”

In California, he claimed that “[m]ost of India is yet to be built.” In London, he insulted Indian doctors by saying: “Doctors should money to prescribe medicines. Instead, they are taken abroad by pharmaceutical companies for their own needs [implying ulterior purposes].”

At present, the Modi government is plagued by the Adani scandal. Political analysts say parliament is not being allowed to function by targeting Rahul Gandhi to avoid discussing the issue.

Congress’ Jairam Ramesh put out a tweet with a video, containing bits from Modi’s speeches abroad, where he speaks about India in negative terms.
