Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is all set to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at around 11 am on Wednesday, December 20 to discuss the release of financial dues that the Centre owes to the state.

Banerjee has time and again claimed that the Union government owes more than Rs 1 lakh crore worth of funds to Bengal, constituting unreleased funds for Central schemes and payments for damages caused by natural calamities.

At a public meeting in the Alipurduar district of her state, Banerjee asserted that the Union government owes the state over Rs 1.1 lakh crore and that the development of the state was getting thwarted as a result of not getting the funds. She also said that if they (the NDA government) do not release the funds on time, the government will inevitably change at the Centre.
