Mamata Banerjee launches Sarasari Mukhyomantri

June 8, 2023 | 2 min read

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today launched a helpline number to enable citizens from across Bengal to reach out directly to her.

The number, 9137091370 has been launched as part of the initiative, ‘Sarasari Mukhyomantri’ (‘Direct to Chief Minister’).

The number is the same as the one launched in July 2019 as part of the ‘Didi Ke Bolo’ initiative, after the general elections.

“The Didi Ke Bolo’ programme was a party-level initiative. But ‘Sarasari Mukhyamantri’ is entirely an administrative one. … The platform consists of a call centre and field validation units and is supported with about 500 tele-callers for receiving calls and 100 validation personnel for field validation and analysis of information under the supervision of the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO),” Banerjee said while announcing the initiative at Nabanna Sabhaghar.

A person who calls on the helpline will first hear a short message from the chief minister and then the call will be picked up by a call centre personnel who will note down the complaint.

The person will will be informed during the different stages of the resolution process through SMS and phone calls.

The chief minister’s grievance cell was started in October 2019 and to date, about 22 lakh complaints have been received, of which 98.20 per cent have been disposed of. ‘Sarasari Mukhyomantri’ is aimed at strengthening that initiative further.

The helpline programme will be headed by PB Salim, secretary of the Programme Monitoring Department with the additional charge of secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). It will involve the chief secretary, advisor to chief minister and the principal secretaries of all departments.
