In the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections covering 88 seats across 12 states and a Union territory, a 63.50 per cent voter turnout was reported, with the Election Commission noting mostly peaceful polling.

Manipur led with an 81.85 per cent turnout, followed by Assam with 81.17 per cent and Tripura with 80.11 per cent. Notably, some polling stations in Tripura reported over 100 per cent turnout, attributed to election duty certificates.

In Manipur, turnout was high despite a heightened security presence (because of the ongoing Meitei-Kuki Zo clashes).

Uttar Pradesh and Bihar saw the lowest turnouts–55.19% and 59.45 per cent, respectively. Compared to previous years, Uttar Pradesh witnessed a 7 per cent decrease in turnout.

Kerala saw a 71.27 per cent turnout, with Rahul Gandhi’s constituency recording 73.57 per cent. Madhya Pradesh recorded 58.59 per cent. Maharashtra and Rajasthan recorded turnouts of 62.71 and 65.03 per cent, respectively. Jammu and Kashmir reported 72.12 per cent.

Bengal saw a 75.59 per cent turnout on average, with nearly 300 complaints lodged concerning EVM malfunctions. The three constituencies of Balurghat, Darjeeling and Raiganj recorded 79.09, 71.89 and 76.18 per cent, respectively.

An Election Commission official stated that polling in Bengal was peaceful, with no untoward incidents reported; 411 minor complaints were recorded.
