Lok Sabha 2024: 3rd phase voter turnout more than 65%

The third phase of the 2024 general election, held on May 7, saw a voter turnout of around 65.68 per cent across the 93 constituencies that went to polls in 11 states and Union territories, according to the Election Commission of India’s data as of 10 pm on May 8.

Some key details on the voter turnout in this phase:

  • Assam recorded the highest turnout of 85.45 per cent among the states.
  • Bengal saw a turnout of 77.53 per cent.
  • Goa witnessed a 76.06 per cent voter turnout.
  • In Gujarat, where all 26 seats except Surat (where the BJP candidate won after the others were either disqualified or withdrew) went to the polls, the turnout was 60.13 per cent.
  • Uttar Pradesh had a 57.55 per cent turnout for the 10 constituencies.
  • Bihar recorded a 59.14 per cent voter turnout for the 5 seats.

The voting was largely peaceful, barring a few incidents of violence reported in Bengal. The remaining four phases will be held between May 13 and June 1, with the counting scheduled for June 4.
