Lionel Messi to move to Inter Miami

June 8, 2023 | < 1 min read

Argentine legend Lionel Messi, after two ordinary years (by his high standards) at PSG, is all set to join Major League Soccer club Inter Miami, co-owned by another star David Beckham. There was much speculation about Barcelona taking him back as well as multiple Saudi Pro League-winning club Al Hilal luring him with a mega-deal.

Lionel Messi is all set to join the US club Inter Miami. This was reported by the sports website The Athletic, and then the 2022 World Cup winner confirmed it to the Spanish sports newspaper Mundo Deportivo: “I’m going to go to Miami. I still haven’t closed it 100%. I’m missing a few things, but we decided to go ahead.”

This is also a major blow to the hopes of Barcelona, which was upbeat about luring the star back to the club where he spent his best years.

According to The Athletic, the deal was made sweeter for Messi by Apple TV+, the streaming partner of Major League Soccer, and Adidas, Inter Miami’s long-term sponsor, agreeing on sharing a part of their profits with the Argentine.

Messi’s first appearance for Inter Miami will come on July 21 in a friendly against the Mexican side Cruz Azul, say a few reports.
