The ISC Chemistry Paper I examination, scheduled for Monday, was suddenly cancelled by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), a mere hour-and-a-half before it was due to begin. At that point, students had already started arriving at their respective schools.

Although CISCE did not provide an immediate explanations, attributing the cancellation to “unforeseen circumstances”, unofficial sources suggested that the paper had been leaked on various social media platforms.

The examination has been rescheduled for Thursday, March 21.

At 12.30 pm, a directive was issued to principals of all CISCE-affiliated schools, instructing them to promptly hand over the question paper packets to the designated centre convenors.

This incident echoes a similar situation in 2009 when the ICSE Geography examination was postponed due to the accidental opening of a question paper packet at a centre in Bengaluru on the day of the History and Civics examination.
