Former Kolkata Mayor Sovan Chatterjee has expressed his willingness to rejoin Trinamool Congress after party spokesperson and state general secretary Kunal Ghosh visited his residence.

After visiting Chatterjee, Ghosh told the media that whether or not the former cabinet minister would be allowed to play an active role in the party would be decided by the chairperson, Mamata Banerjee.

Sovan has made it clear once again that his “heart” has always been with Trinamool, and joining the BJP was a monumental fault. Despite joining the BJP before the 2021 Bengal Assembly elections, he used to visit Mamata Banerjee’s house every year during Bhai Phonta.

Sovan Chatterjee told the media on this day that no one before Kunal Ghosh explicitly asked him if he would return to the party, which he would be delighted to. He expressed his loyalty to Abhishek Banerjee as well, saying that he follows Mamata’s footsteps.
