Calcutta High Court lauds Bengal government‘s Covid management during Durga Puja

The Bengal government has drawn high praise from the Calcutta High Court for taking the steps the latter ordered to prevent crowding during Durga Puja.

Justice Sanjib Banerjee said on November 5 that the steps taken by the state government to prevent the spread of the coronavirus infection during Durga Puja were exemplary. A few stray violations aside, it was a work done well.

He said that it was because of the alertness of the government that COVID-19 cases did not show any marked increase after Durga Puja.

According to Sunday’s (November 8) Health Department bulletin, 4,383 people were discharged from medical facilities during the previous 24 hours after being cured, which is a new record.

The discharge rate has gone up to 89.67 per cent, which is also the highest till now. The test positivity rate (TPR), which signifies the rate of spread of infection, was 8.25 per cent.
