Governor Bose signs MLA pay hike bill
Governor CV Ananda Bose has given his approval to the amendment bill concerning the emoluments of members of the Bengal Legislative Assembly.
In September 2023, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced a raise in the monthly salaries of MLAs, ministers of state and cabinet ministers by Rs 40,000 each.
Consequently, the total monthly salary of legislators, including salaries, allowances and perks, will now rise to Rs 1.21 lakh from Rs 81,000. For ministers, the monthly pay will now become Rs 1.40 lakh, which earlier was Rs 1.10 lakh.
