The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Karnataka Police issued a global lookout notice on Thursday, May 2 against Janata Dal (Secular) (JD(S)) MP–and a candidate in the current Lok Sabha elections–of Hassan, Prajwal Revanna for interrogating him in a case of sexual abuse. The notice has been disseminated to all immigration checkpoints worldwide.

The JD(S) is an ally of the BJP in the current general election. Prajwal Revanna is the grandson of former prime minister and JD(S) patriarch, HD Deve Gowda and the son of his elder son, former state minister HD Revanna.

The lookout notice was issued after allegations arose that Revanna fled to Frankfurt, Germany on April 26, following the circulation of explicit videos and images on social media depicting him engaging in sexual abuse of multiple women.

Informing the probe team that he is currently outside Bengaluru, Prajwal has requested for seven days’ time to appear before the SIT. Both he and his father have been summoned by the SIT for interrogation.

On Wednesday, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah criticised Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s expressed indignation in the case, remarking in Hubballi that the “BJP cannot remain associated with those who commit atrocities against women”.

Simultaneously, a complaint has been filed against both the father and the son in Holenarasipura by their former cook and relative, alleging sexual harassment of her daughter. The complainant stated that Prajwal made objectionable video calls to her daughter, compelling the latter to block him.
