Flight connecting Ayodhya to Kolkata inaugurated

In anticipation of the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ or consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia launched the inaugural Air India Express flights connecting the city to Kolkata and Bengaluru on Wednesday., January 17.

These come soon after the inauguration of air connectivity between Ayodhya and Delhi, Mumbai and Ahmedabad. In a short span of time, Ayodhya has got air connectivity with several important cities; the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi on December 30.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who joined the inauguration event via video conference from the state capital, Lucknow, received the boarding pass for the first flight from Ayodhya to Kolkata.

“We celebrated Diwali last year, second Diwali during the recent election results of three states, and now, we will be celebrating the third Diwali on January 22. It will be the most memorable day for 800 crore people worldwide who are devotees of Lord Ram,” Scindia said at the inauguration.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said: “The Ram Mandir ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony will be held on January 22 and the entire country is excited about the event. People are eagerly planning to visit Ayodhya. Four or five years ago, nobody could have thought that an airport would be built in Ayodhya. However, this is a reality now.”
