On Wednesday night, at 9.12 pm, a fire broke out inside the domestic terminal of Kolkata’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport. Three fire tenders were rushed to the spot, which managed to bring the blaze under control.

The fire broke out in the D Portal area of the departure lounge, which is the area where passengers get boarding passes. A portion of the security checkpoint also caught fire.

The airport authorities said the fire was fully extinguished by 9:40 pm. All passengers were evacuated safely and the check-in process was suspended due to the presence of smoke in the check-in area.

The cause of the fire will be ascertained after investigation.
