In an interesting twist to the case of sexual harassment against outgoing Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, Delhi Police on Thursday filed a final report before a court in New Delhi seeking cancellation of the charge by a minor wrestler, saying there was no corroborative evidence found in the allegations.

A charge of sexual harassment by a minor under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) would have made the case against Singh much stronger.

The police told the court that it came to the conclusion on the basis of statements filed by the minor and her father.

Two cases were filed by the police at the Connaught Place Police Station on April 28, after days of unrelenting protests by the wrestlers led by the star trio of Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia, in which seven wrestlers gave their statements against Brij Bhushan Singh.
