Dada and Didi go off together in the latter’s car. Does this indicate a new political equation?

Just recently, there was speculation of this person joining the BJP, but then, later on, he was seen at Nabanna too, meeting Mamata Banerjee. Rumours flew thick and fast. The subject of this whirligig of speculations was none other than Bengal’s favourite ‘Dada’, Sourav Ganguly.

Today, Dada and Didi were again seen together, this time sharing the stage at the event post the colourful rally from Jorasanko to Red Road, organised by the state government to celebrate UNESCO’s granting of the status of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity to Durga Puja in Kolkata. Dada even hugged Didi and presented her with a memento.

But the most striking part of this meeting came at around 4.30 pm, when the chief minister left the event taking Sourav along in the back seat of her car. Where did they go? More importantly. what will they discuss? It’s all in the realm of imagination, for now.

There have been several meetings, formally and informally, between the two over the years, including some at Nabanna.

When Union Home Minister Amit Shah met the BCCI president and former India captain last May, rumours flew thick in the air about the latter being made a candidate for Rajya Sabha from the BJP. That hasn’t happened.

So now that he has gone off for a meeting with the Trinamool supremo, what or will there be some major political outcome? The public, press and political pundits are all waiting with bated breath.
