CM Banerjee hikes pay of ASHA, Anganwadi workers

On Wednesday, March 6, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced a hike in the compensation for ASHA and Anganwadi workers ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

In a Facebook video message, she revealed that the remuneration of ASHA and Anganwadi workers would see a boost of Rs 750 per month and that of Anganwadi helpers, of Rs 500 per month.

Therefore, the monthly salary of ASHA and Anganwadi workers would increase from Rs 8,250 to Rs 9,000 and of Anganwadi helpers from Rs 6,000 to Rs 6,500.

These hikes will take effect on April 1, Banerjee said in her video message.

She also posted a message on X: “I’m pleased to share that starting April 2024, our ASHA and Anganwadi workers will receive an enhanced remuneration of Rs. 750 monthly. Additionally, we’ve decided to augment the monthly compensation for Anganwadi helpers by Rs. 500.”
