On Thursday, officials reported that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted searches at the residences of former Jammu and Kashmir (and Goa) governor Satya Pal Malik as part of an investigation into corruption related to the Kiru Hydroelectric Power Project.

According to sources, the probe agency conducted searches at 30 locations across Gurugram, Chandigarh, Patna, Delhi, Jodhpur, Barmer, Noida and Baghpat.

In response to the raids, Malik took to X, alleging that his “house is being raided by the dictator through government agencies”.

In 2022, the Jammu and Kashmir government requested a CBI inquiry into alleged irregularities—previously raised by Satya Pal Malik—in the allocation of two government contracts.

Malik had claimed last year that he was offered a bribe of Rs 300 crore during his tenure as J&K governor from August 23, 2018 to October 30, 2019 for approving two files, one of which was related to the aforementioned project.
