Reports of unrest have surfaced from various sectors within Cooch Behar district, coinciding with the first phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stands accused of igniting the temporary election office of the Trinamool Congress (TMC).

The alleged incident occurred in the Harirhat locality of Barakodal Gram Panchayat, which is part of Tufanganj-II block. It’s noteworthy that the BJP clinched victory in Barakodal Gram Panchayat in the last panchayat elections.

On Friday, accusations arose implicating the BJP in the arson of the temporary Trinamool office. Authorities from the Bakshirhat Police Station responded upon the reporting of the incident. As of now, there has been no official statement from the BJP concerning these allegations.
