The 2023 Bengal Global Business Summit began earlier today. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated the big-ticket event at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre (BBCC) in New Town.

The seventh edition of the flagship summit of the Bengal government will be spread over three venues—Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan (opposite Science City) and Dhono Dhanyo Auditorium (in Alipore).

The summit is aimed at attracting big investments to the state. Over 250 international delegates from over 25 nations are expected to participate in the two-day event. There are 17 partner countries this time, up from 14 last year. They are Australia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Fiji, France, Germany, Japan, Kenya, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Nepal, Netherlands, Poland, Rwanda, Slovak Republic, South Korea and the United Kingdom.

The British Deputy High Commission had said in a recent press release that the United Kingdom will bring its “largest-ever” delegation to the BGBS, comprising 55 members, representing a wide range of businesses and institutions.

A BGBS official told the news agency PTI that among Indian industrialists, big names like Mukesh Ambani, Sanjeev Goenka, Sanjiv Puri, Purnendu Chattopadhyay, Harshvardhan Neotia and Sajjan Jindal will be present.

Plenary sessions, Parallel Global Conferences, sectoral sessions for focus sectors and country sessions with partner countries, besides numerous B2B (business-to-business) and B2G (business-to-government) meetings will be held, he said.
