State government employees will get a 10 per cent hike in dearness allowance (DA) on their basic pay starting from January 1, 2024, as per a notification issued by the state Finance Department.

The calculation of DA will consider the revised basic pay and non-practicing allowance (NPA), if applicable, excluding other forms of pay.

The government had announced a 6 per cent hike in DA on February 24 last year. Then, on December 21, during the inauguration of the Kolkata Christmas Festival at Allen Park, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced a further 4 per cent hike. Therefore, state government employees are going to get a total hike in DA of 10 per cent.
