Auction for IPL 2023 in December

November 9, 2022 | < 1 min read

The auction of players for the 2023 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be held on December 23 in Kochi, announced the BCCI today.

Unlike the auction for IPL 2022 in February, which was a mega auction as the 10 franchises had to rebuild their squads virtually from scratch, the December player auction will be a mini auction.

While the mega auction in February was held over two days, the next one will be wrapped up in just a single day.

In addition to the money left over from their previous auction purse and the value of the players they release, each team will have an additional Rs 5 crore (approximately US $607,000) to spend, making the overall purse Rs 95 crore (approximately US $11.5 million).

This year, franchises are keen to see if all-rounders Ben Stokes, Sam Curran and Cameron Green will put their names forward for the auction. If they do, they will be in high demand.
