Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation and South Bengal State Transport Corporation were awarded the prestigious SKOCH Award in the Gold category for ‘COVID-19 Management’ and the ‘Vision 2025’ scheme, respectively.

Bengal bagged two more SKOCH Gold Awards within days of three departments bagging the same.

The Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has received the award in the ‘Municipal Governance’ category for ‘COVID Management’ and the South Bengal State Transport Corporation (SBSTC) in the ‘Transport’ category for ‘Vision 2025’.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic started, BMC had taken several measures like daily sanitisation of markets, local lockdowns to break the chain of infection, monitoring the infected patients who were staying in isolation in their homes and clearing biomedical waste on time.

“This award is the outcome of the joint effort by our staff and officials,” said Krishna Chakraborty, Chairperson, Board of Administrators of BMC, who thanked the staff and officials of the civic body for the achievement.

The South Bengal State Transport Corporation (SBSTC) has also bagged a SKOCH Gold Award for its ‘Vision 2025’ scheme.

As part of the scheme, it has been decided that by 2025, the sale of tickets and all other transactions will be done digitally. A bus terminus with the amenities of an international terminus will also be set up.
