A group of villagers from Sandeshkhali, who had reported instances of land grabbing, have commenced the process of reclaiming their land, aided by the Bengal government’s initiative to facilitate the return.

As of Monday, approximately 150 villagers in Sandeshkhali had successfully reclaimed their land, thanks to the interventions by the state’s Land and Land Reforms Department (LLRD), responding to complaints lodged at both the Bermajur police camp and the camp established by the LLRD.

Further, the Irrigation and Public Health Engineering Departments have initiated actions to convert certain fish farms back into agricultural land by sealing off their inlets to prevent the intrusion of saline water.
