100 new MSME parks being set up in Bengal

To improve the job prospects of the people of Bengal, the state government has taken a decision to set up 100 industrial parks devoted to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME). These will be situated across the state.

The parks are being developed in partnership with private companies, with the government extending every possible help to set up the infrastructure through the West Bengal Incentive Scheme-2014 for Government-Approved Industrial Parks.

The industrial parks need to be set up on a minimum of 20 acres and need to have at least 20 MSME units to qualify for the state government incentives.

The government would construct, at its own cost, one connecting road up to 1.5 km from the nearest main road or highway to the industrial park. For uninterrupted power supply, the government would construct a power station for each of the 100 parks. The stamp duty that needs to be paid to the government by the private developer for the land would be waived.

Already, 14 such MSME parks, covering 1,300 acres, have been set up, the significant among which are the ones in Bantala and Howrah.
