According to the India Today Mood of the Nation (MOTN) public opinion poll, if Lok Sabha elections take place in January, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will improve its performance in Bengal over the last time by one seat, to secure 19 seats.

The All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) is poised to maintain its lead by securing 22 seats, the same as last time. The extra seat for the BJP will come at the expense of the Indian National Congress (INC), whose share will reduce to a single seat, for the first time ever.

The state comprises 42 parliamentary constituencies.

As for vote share, the BJP has been forecast to obtain 40 per cent, consistent with its performance in 2019. The Trinamool Congress will receive 53 per cent of the vote share, which is a decrease of 4 per cent compared to 2019.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, a fierce competition unfolded between BJP and AITC, with the former clinching 18 seats and the latter, 22 seats.

Earlier, Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress Chairperson Mamata Banerjee had declared that her party would participate in the Lok Sabha polls independently in Bengal. This decision stemmed from the rejection of her seat-sharing proposals by the Congress and CPI(M).
