The Trinamool Congress delegation that was detained by Delhi Police on Monday, April 8, 2024 from the front of the Election Commission of India office, being taken to the police station

On Monday, the Delhi Police apprehended numerous Trinamool Congress leaders during a demonstration outside the Election Commission office.

Prominent figures from the party initiated a 24-hour sit-in protest on Monday afternoon following a meeting with the full bench of the electoral body.

Opposition MPs have demanded a shift in leadership within central agencies such as the CBI, NIA, ED and Income Tax Department.

Trinamool MPs Derek O’Brien, Sagarika Ghose, Dola Sen, Saket Gokhale and Nadimul Haque, student leader Sudip Raha, and ex-MPs Abir Ranjan Biswas, Dr Shantanu Sen, Arpita Ghosh and Vivek Gupta were detained by the police.
