Railway station announcements allegedly shut down to broadcast PM Modi’s speech

May 31, 2022 | < 1 min read

A controversy arose today when a video was uploaded on social media showing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech being broadcast live at Tilak Nagar railway station in Mumbai during morning hours.

The video was uploaded on Twitter by a reporter with the caption, “All public announcement systems about local trains at Tilak Nagar Railway Station has been shut and playing PM Modi’s speech.”

Passengers were naturally angry over this. Netizens poured vitriol on the Railways over this.

Central Railway authorities (under whose jurisdiction the station falls), however, said that no crucial train announcements were missed and that the speech was shown in between announcements.
