Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has already conducted 12 rallies in Bengal since the Lok Sabha election dates were announced on March 16, is set to address five more rallies on Sunday and Monday.

Senior BJP leaders in Bengal noted that, with an additional three rallies scheduled for the final two phases of the election, plus a roadshow in Kolkata, Modi’s total number of public rallies in Bengal since March will reach 25—one of the highest for any state by him this year.

Even before the official campaign period began, Modi had already addressed four rallies in Bengal.

BJP State General Secretary Jagannath Chattopadhyay explained that the prime minister has concentrated on four key states—Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Bengal—crucial to his development plans for the eastern and coastal regions of the country.

Senior BJP leaders in Bengal highlighted that during many rallies, Modi forecasted a BJP “sweep”. Rather than focusing on constituencies where the BJP performed well in 2019, Modi targeted areas where the party had weaker results. For example, he held rallies in Krishnanagar in Nadia and Arambagh in Hooghly, where the BJP narrowly trailed the AITC in 2019. Modi is also expected to address a rally in Barasat.
