Lok Sabha 2024: 5th phase elections in 6 states & 2 UTs today

The fifth of the seven phases of the 2024 general election is happening today. Elections are taking place in 49 parliamentary constituencies, spanning six states and the union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, including in the high-profile constituencies of Amethi and Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh.

The 47 constituencies are spread across Bihar (5), Jharkhand (3), Maharashtra (13), Odisha (5), Uttar Pradesh (14) and Bengal (7).

Also in the fray are 35 of the 147 assembly constituencies in Odisha, where simultaneous assembly elections are taking place.

Of the 47 parliamentary constituencies, 39 are general seats, seven are scheduled caste seats and three are scheduled tribe seats.

Around 9.47 lakh polling officials are involved in enabling over 8.95 crore voters (including 4.69 crore male, 4.26 crore female and 5,409 third gender electors) across 94,732 polling stations.

The next two phases fall on May 25 and June 1, and the votes will be counted on June 4.
