Link your PAN and Aadhaar Cards by June 30
The last day for linking PAN and Aadhaar Cards is June 30. However, a fine of Rs 1,000 must be paid (the final day to link without paying a fine was March 31, 2022).
Linking PAN and Aadhaar Cards
There are three methods: Visiting the nearest linking centre, doing it yourselves online or sending an SMS.
You can do it yourself or by going to the nearest PAN Seva Kendra or Aadhaar Seva Kendra, where the designated person will do it online.
For doing it online yourselves, here is the method:
- Visit the Income Tax Department’s official e-filing portal
- Click on the Aadhaar link option under the ‘Quick Links’ tab
- Enter your Aadhaar and PAN Card numbers
- Confirm your PAN card and mobile number to receive OTP
- Now go to ‘Income Tax File Process’ and enter the mode of payment and assessment year
- Once your payment is successful your PAN card will be linked to your Aadhaar
There is another method, which is by sending an SMS. Type ‘UIDPAN12-digit Aadhaar Number<10-digit PAN Number>’ and send the SMS to either 56161 or 567678.
Checking PAN and Aadhaar Card link status
You need to check whether the linking has been done.
- Visit the Income Tax Department’s official e-filing portal
- Click ‘Link Aadhaar Status’ tab from the left columns
- Enter your 10-digit PAN number and 12-digit Aadhaar number.
- Click ‘View Link Aadhaar Status’ button
