Kharge raps Adhir, says alliance with Mamata to be decided by top leadership

May 19, 2024 | < 1 min read

In response to Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury’s comments expressing distrust in Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee and suggesting she might align with the BJP, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge clarified on Saturday that such decisions rest solely with the party high command, not with Chowdhury.

“Mamata Banerjee has declared her support for the INDIA coalition from the outside, similar to past instances where the Communists supported the Congress-led UPA from outside,” said Kharge, the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha.

“Regarding Adhir Ranjan’s remarks, he lacks the authority to make any decisions on this matter. The party’s top leaders and high command will decide, and anyone who does not adhere to these decisions will be expelled from the party,” Kharge added.
