The Kolkata International Book Fair will be held from January 18 to 31 at the Boi Mela Prangan in Salt Lake. It will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Numerous smaller publishers have contacted the Booksellers and Publishers Guild, the organiser, to book stall space, resulting in the granting pf permission to over 1,000 stalls, an increase from the 900 of last year.

In 2023, the sale of books amounted to over Rs 25 crore.

Efforts have been made to facilitate hassle-free parking for both cars and two-wheelers. Additionally, the concerns raised about Wi-Fi connectivity issues at the fairground will be adequately addressed this year.

The state transport department will introduce extra buses to transport book enthusiasts to the venue. Since visitors from neighbouring districts also attend the event in large numbers, additional buses will be available to transport them from Howrah and Sealdah stations.

Regular meetings have been conducted among the guild representatives, Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation, and Bidhannagar Police to guarantee a seamless fair experience.

The Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation plans to assign extra personnel from the solid waste management department to maintain cleanliness at the fairground. Bio-toilets will be made available, and water pouches will be provided for the convenience of the visitors.
